Objective:
  • Understand the three components (Opportunity, Pressure, Rationalization) of the fraud triangle.
  • Assess internal control weaknesses.
  • Identify red flags within the organization.
  • Identify inconsistencies across documents, such as bank statements, payroll stubs, and receipts.
  • Understand, recognize, and be able to define common schemes.

Windsor Oncology Center, part of Ashwood Medical Center, is the premier cancer treatment center in Kippah, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Nurse Serena Mills has been noticing abnormal symptoms in her chemotherapy patients. Her nurse’s intuition is telling her something is wrong. Learners investigate to understand what – or who – is causing harm to patients.

Certified as a CIA, CFE, and CISA, and holding both a BBA and MBA in Accounting with a Fraud Emphasis from Texas Wesleyan University, Joshua brings specialized expertise in internal controls and consulting. His career has focused on enhancing compliance frameworks, improving operational efficiencies, and driving measurable outcomes for clients, including cost reductions and strengthened risk controls.

Alongside his professional role, Joshua serves as an adjunct professor at Texas Wesleyan University, where he teaches an introductory course in fraud examination. Drawing from his industry experience and certifications, he prepares students to navigate critical aspects of fraud detection, risk mitigation, and ethical decision-making. His dual commitment to advancing both HF Sinclair’s success and educating future professionals demonstrates his dedication to excellence in the fields of accounting and audit.
